Do you have a purpose-driven life? No, I'm not talking about Rick Warren's kind of purpose. I'm talking about God's kind of purpose, which is spelled out for us in 1 Peter 2:9.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
We are chosen, made holy, possessed by God - in order that we might proclaim His excellence! God has mandated that we develop the same character as His Son, and display His excellence to the world around us, and our lives must be driven by this purpose. Failure to fulfill this mandate reflects that our lives are pointed in the wrong direction, set by a faulty compass. The direction must always be to reflect Christ alone.
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
That is the purpose-driven life that true believers are to have. That is the only way to prove that we are truly seeking Christ. That is just one step in a staircase of qualities that lead to full-grown Christian maturity.
" . . . make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue . . ."
